Tom Cruise: ‘When Katie Holmes walks into the room, I feel better’

May 15 » by Ali in Tom with No Comments

Tom Cruise discusses singing in front of Def Leppard while filming “Rock of Ages,” as well as his relationship with wife Katie Holmes, in a new interview in the June issue of Playboy.

“I knew I could hold a note. I sang in a glee club when I was 14 years old and in a high school musical. But I never had a singing lesson,” said Cruise, speaking of signing on to play rock star Stacee Jaxx in the upcoming movie musical “Rock of Ages.”

“It’s like learning a new sport or a skill for a character. I had to find out how to move air through the vocal cords and where to place it in my head, in the chest.”

Cruise said that the role was trial by fire — and that he was asked to perform “Pour Some Sugar on Me” in front of the band that recorded it on his first day of filming.

“I was down in Miami, recording different songs, and [the director] called and said, ‘Def Leppard’s coming by the set.’ I said, ‘Man, that’s cool.’ Then I paused. ‘Wait, I’m rehearsing their song tomorrow.’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah!’ So we started right in the deep end, and that was the first scene I shot in the movie,” remembers Cruise. “All the crew was watching them watching me. The lead singer, Joe Elliott, points at me and goes, ‘[Bleep] you! [Bleep] you!’ Then I saw big smiles on their faces, and I realized I’d gotten their stamp. It was a very cool moment.”

Cruise was of course also asked about his wife, Katie Holmes, in the interview.

“When she walks into the room, I just feel better,” said Cruise. “I don’t know what to say—I’m just happy, and I have been since the moment I met her. What we have is very special.”

Cruise also discussed his behavior early in their relationship, when he infamously jumped on Oprah’s couch and lambasted Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressants.

“That time was interesting. It was that moment when the Internet had really spun out,” said Cruise. “It was a learning experience for all of us, how these things go. All you can do is learn and say, ‘This is the way it’s going to go from now on. Here is the line.’”

As for the rumor mill constantly spinning on himself and Holmes, Cruise said that he has learned to not pay attention.

“There’s a separation between what’s happening versus what people say. This is something I learned growing up, moving and always being the new kid,” said Cruise. “Do you wish they wouldn’t say certain things? Yeah, you wish. Does refuting things help? Not really. There comes a point when you just have to go, You know what? Here’s how I’ve lived my life: I’ve never been late to set. I make films I believe in. I feel privileged to be able to do what I love. You just have to keep going and remember that. The other stuff? I hear it, I read it, I get it. But life is not a matter of trying to prove anything to anybody.”

Katie Holmes Is Not Pregnant, Says Rep

April 26 » by Ali in News with 1 Comment »

I normally don’t post rumors but since this has been floating around I decided to share the official word from Katie’s rep on her reported second pregnancy.

“It’s not true,” a rep for Holmes explained to Us Wednesday, the same day that Star’s “Baby Bombshell” cover was released. Holmes, 33, has long faced an uphill battle with the publication, which issued her an apology in 2011 after the title published a false report suggesting she was involved with drugs.

Michelle Williams open to “Dawson’s Creek” reunion

April 24 » by Ali in Co-Stars, Dawson's Creek with No Comments

CBS News shared that Katie’s co-star Michelle Williams would be open to a Dawson’s Creek reunion.

It’s been almost a decade since “Dawson’s Creek” went off the air, but one of the stars says she’s open to another run with the Capside crew.

Michelle Williams, who played Jen Lindley on the WB series, revealed Tuesday that she’s “totally up” for a “Dawson’s Creek” reunion.

The actress, 31, spoke to New York magazine’s Vulture blog at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her film “Take This Waltz.” When told that her former “Dawson’s” co-star James Van Der Beek was willing to do a reunion, she laughed, “He has my e-mail! He has my home phone and my cell phone, so we talk.”

She added, “He could totally ask! I’ve always said, I’m totally up for reunion tours, reunion shows, so we can do that.”

So if Williams (Jen) and Van Der Beek (Dawson) are down, that leaves Katie Holmes (Joey) and Joshua Jackson (Pacey). According to Us Weekly, Holmes has previously said she’d be happy to do a reunion, telling “Good Morning America” last fall, “It would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories.”

There’s also no word on when or where the cast would reunite, if it happens, but one possibility could be Van Der Beek’s new sitcom, “Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23,” where he plays a fictional version of himself. Or, perhaps the Capeside High foursome could appear on Jackson’s sci-fi series, “Fringe.”

Williams also expressed interest in another guest-starring gig, on her pal Busy Phillips’ show, “Cougar Town.”

“I’ve always wanted, my best friend [Busy Philipps] is on ‘Cougar Town,’ and we’ve always talked about wanting to go be on that show, too,” she said. “It’s just timing, because of L.A. and New York, and it hasn’t happened.”

Would you guys want to see a Dawson’s Creek reunion?

April 11 » by Ali in The Seagull with No Comments

JustJared reported that Katie will be starring in a film for the story The Seagull.

Katie Holmes is set to star in a modern retelling of The Seagull, the classic play by Anton Chekhov.

The 33-year-old actress will star alongside Allison Janney, William Hurt, Juliet Rylance, Mark Rylance, and Jean Reno. The film will be written and directed by Dexter actor Christian Carmago.

The film will be “set in rural New England where reckless desire wreaks havoc over Memorial Day weekend as a family confronts the volatile and fragile nature of love.”

Allison will play Elizabeth, a movie star based on the role of Irina Arkadina in The Seagull, while William will play her ailing brother. Katie is going to play the temperamental daughter of the estate’s caretaker, according to Variety.

Juliet, who is married to Christian in real life, will also produce the flick.
